Default every bump i hear knocking/clunking from front!!!

i want to scream, i cannot see it been a broken spring as i have apex springs that are only about 14 month old. I havent hit any bad pot holes i can think of, i have normal shockers if you need that info, but everytime i go over bumps it like a clunk or a bump noise. My subframe was once loose after a clutch fit and it sounds similar to that, this was well over a year ago now... unless subframes come loose again! What you rekon? Is it a big job to tighten a subframe or doesnt it sound like that? Thanks chaps

Did you jack the car up and let the strut extend fully to check for a broken spring?

Its easier to check with the weight off the strut and check the spring tips in the strut cup are correctly located and have not moved. I have has short sections of spring tipps lie broken in the strut cup for 100's of miles with out dislodging
Paulvectra's tips are spot on for another potential source. Worn Drop links give that 'clunk' noise.

    any springs can break unfortunatly.

I have very recently had allot of issues with noises from my suspension... From research noises seem to typicaly come from one of two problems.

If your getting a twang sound when turning the wheel from side to side while staionary then it's likley to be the top mounts or the top mount barings.

IF your getting a clunk whengoing over speed bumps then it is likley to be the drop links or the ARB Bushs... easy to check.... use the search to find ljnks about fixing these
