    Default car wont start

    hi all, my car will initially start for a second or too then dies, ive used my opcom and i get glow device general error and thats the only fault.

    its a z19dth by the way

    any ideas?

    That is telling you you have a fault with the glow plugs that help start the car.

    Is it cold where you are as it will need them to start the car if its really cold.

    Try switching the ignition on to bring in the glow plugs and put a voltage meter onto the glow plugs, this will check to see if there is power to the glow plugs. If no power, check the glow plug relay.

    If there is power, I would suggest a new set of glow plugs be fitted.

    we did have a freeze last night, but i understood that the glow plugs only help to warm the air inside the cylinder. but after cranking the engine for appro 10 minutes i would assume that the process would have warmed the air enough to start.

    Or am i completely wrong guys?

    The glow plugs provide a hot point for the fuel to ignite.
