I got a feeling it will be a lengthy process, especially if a new tunnel had to be fabricated. There's a guy over on mk3oc building a rwd Astra. He's had to cut bits off a Sierra just to fit the gearbox in!
The biggest problem is that my car is a daily driver, if we had a backup car then I'd probably go ahead with it and just use my dad's driveway.

Doing a 4x4 conversion for rallying is much different than for legal road use.
I would be amazed if there are no legal implications of chopping half the car off and manufacturing a driveshaft tunnel, adding hardpoints for rear drive system and mounting, etc etc.
Personally, I think it would be a mammoth job to do and to do properly, safely and is insurable. Maybe a single vehicle approval would be required by the VCA.
