Part numbers for Bilstein B4 shock Absorbers:

FRONTS
22-168597 VNE-G859
22-168603 VNE-G860

These are for Facelift cars only and are the same across all trim levels (SRi,GSI,SXi etc) with the exception of the VXR

REARS
19-118758 BNE-B875 (same part code both sides)

Rears fit Preface lift and facelift cars non IDS

Currently (16th January 2012) for a set of 4 they will cost £227 including postage from LMF

It appears that the fronts have to come from Germany and are not a stocked line in the UK

PLEASE NOTE: There is a different part number for the fronts for the pre-facelift and these are normally held in stock in the UK and are a bit cheaper

I have today replaced the standard Sachs shocks on our Signum 1.9 CDTi Exclusive with the B4's and they are far better. Combined with the Eibach lowering springswhich were already fitted the ride has vastly improved, it does not wallow anymore. when each corner is bouncd it is far harder. unlike the Sachs ones which were only 6 months old which wallowed away.

Also fiited uprated Saab drop links from PFS-Wellingborough (£15 each)

IDS+ (Interactive Driving System) this uses adaptive damping to alter the angle of the chassis when cornering at high speeds, reducing understeer by keeping the body stable and cutting braking distances by stabilising the weight transfer, it works well, giving the car a much tauter and responsive feel than before.
There's also a button - known as the Sportswitch - which alters the driving dynamics to provide a firmer ride if you wish to press on.

I don't think any vectra i have had has bottomed out unless your springs are broken.

Why do you need the clearance and do you mean ground clearance?

Yep, ground clearance - has the lowered springs affected this much?

As for bottoming out, when making rapid progress on B roads, I get not so much the bottoming out, but I can feel the rear end is going the full extent of its shock travel - did your lowering springs (on your old sachs set up which I have) stem this "wallow" if you know what I mean?

Effectively to counter act the lift/lightness of the tail end, whilst the nose tries to plow on as the understeer gets ever greater?
