Question Location of powertrain air intake

    Hi all,

Attached is a picture of the air intake on my Vectra C. As you can see from the photo, the intake is (looking from the front of the car) on the right hand side, with two resonator boxes on the left hand side. (My car is a December 2003 build)

Some of my fellow Aussie Vectra C owners have reported that their (later build date) air intakes are on the left hand side, where I have the smaller resonator box.

I'm hoping maybe someone here can shed some light on this:
    1. When was the change made?
    2. Why was the location of the air intake changed? (Performance? Acoustics?)
    3. Is the location of the air intake the same for all engines? Petrol vs. diesel, four cylinder vs six cylinder

    Thanks!

mine it on the left on my 04, Mrs Gsi's 3.2 on the right...

it's all to do with intake noise.. the longer intake lowers the noise..

and it doesn't effect performance at all.... C's car goes just as well as mine....

No. I mean the hole at the front where the air enters the car.

OK, it sounds like it's not worth fiddling with. Ta.
