Default Smoke in my engine bay - oh no!

    Hello

I have a few issues with my 2004 120cdti signum.

When the turbo kicks in it now hisses instead of a nice whistle like it used to!

Looking today in the dark through the torch light i could see smoke in the engine bay - not much though!

Now she has started smoking when the my foot is off the accelerator pedal. - not all the time though and the exhaust gas from the back is very hot (hand 20cm away and its too hot to hold there)

I have no loss of power (not that i can tell) but do have a smell of fumes in the cabin when started.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks in advance

    Steve

Split turbo pipes or damaged Turbo intercooler.

If you have a leak from one of the turbo pipes then you have less gas going out of the exhaust which could make it hotter

Is the 120 the same design as the 150? My 150 had a crack in exhaust manifold and was blowing/hissing. Ment a new turbo as the turbo and manifold are one unit on the 150.

Try sprinkling some talc powder down the front while someone revs, you will see the talc blow from where leak is
