i beliebe you require the auto dimming interior mirror and the correct BCM/Door module. Apart from that I would imagine its just a tech 2 issue.

The dimming wing mirror is actually not connected to the DDM or BMC..

But from the autodimming mirror, there goes some wires to the REC.. that will then connect to the plug in the drivers door pilar.

if you have the 2 top wires in the REC theres a good chance that it is also to the door plug


At the door plug you should then have the 2 pins in the middel like mine (the 2 lowest rows where i have pins.. in the middel)



But then you still need to have the wiring in the doorloom (or make it you self) and in the mirror (again or to make that your self)

Sorry for the thread revival but I need some help with this... Just fitted the auto dim rear view mirror with 6 wires, (the 2 extra wires are green & yellow for the exterior dimming wing mirror) fitted the required roof loom and dimming drivers wing mirror.

The rear view mirror seems to be working (although I'm not 100% its working when selecting reverse yet) but the dimming drivers mirror is not working, so after some investigative work using the info in this thread it would seem I do not have the required wires going from the REC to the drivers door plug so I intend to make a loom and add them myself.

The problem is the pics above don't give enough detail into which wires are needed, can some one who has done this or already has the wires in place confirm which colour wires & positions they are fitted into the REC & drivers door plug please?

I think my door loom is ok, the plug which goes to the wing mirror has a bucket load of wires in it and they seem to match up to the wires actually in the mirror itself, if not I can always add them too.

My vec is an 07 SRi and the dimming door mirror is from and 08, the rear view mirror is the correct 6 wire version purchased brand new (less than £40).

Any help would be great!

1: it should NOT dim when selecting reverse or with door open (actually also it interiur light is on) can be changed in setting in the REC. (maby other places to).

2: the wires needed in the plug show is marked here: where they go on the REC i dont know.. (cant check right now)

wops its the 2 top wires in the blue plug thats inserted into the brown plug: (the 2 top ones that is fitted in this picture)

Cheers for the reply Ken, when the mirror is dimmed selecting reverse didn't seem to clear it.. need to check it out when its dark really I think.

The photo of the door plug, the two pins you highlighted are what I'm missing and I understood this from the original post you made in 2009, what I need to know is which colour wire is the top pin and which is the bottom pin ideally, any ideas?

Also, in the REC I have the top wire (white) already fitted but that's the only wire I have in blue plug, how sure are you of the white wire and wire underneath it being the correct ones for this to dim the wing mirror?

On the rear of the plug are pin numbers
Im thinking this is for the mirror plug not the door plug

pin 13 is brown/yellow
pin 14 is white/yellow

or thats what autodata shows
