Have you got anything lit up? Ecu light at all?
Could be cim module or actual dash binnacle itself, check my thread history for ones I have started called "dashboard is kapput"..... Had this problem last year.
I thought it was cim at first, but turned out to require a new dashboard binnacle assembly.
HTH
There also some fuse to check, 17 & 26 on the passenger side of the dashboard, even if they look ok, remove and replace or swap for new ones, some people are lucky and this solves it...
Disconnect the abs plug under the bonnet and clean it with some wd40
Try disconnecting the battery for a couple of minutes, worked for me.
Hi
Had the same problem until the dash instruments stopped working completely. Electronic technician found the data connection on the dashboard loose. Re- located and re-soldered data connection, no problem experienced for 30k travelled. Fingers crossed.
Hi there I have this fault also, but I have the orange engine warning light come on with the ignition but once car starts the light goes out.
All the lights and wipers still work so not sure if it will be the cim, hoping it will be an easy fix.
The car has only 26k on the clock so its not as though it has been round the clock, the radio went funny at first then came back on. When I came back to the car and started it the speedo unit was not working.
Is there a way of doing a diagnostic on the car to find out the fault???
Any help would be useful.
I have had this problem on my 54 plate and got it sorted at the weekend the connector on the clocks is dry soldered and needs to be re done it takes about an hour but clocks need to be stripped to the board and then the needles reset and the problem will be sorted
If you get nothing from the CIM, then it could be Fuse No' 10 at the end of the dash
Fuses 17 and 26 are for instruments and display, so if these are faulty, the display will not work properly.
A common issue - could be a faulty battery, loose battery connection or faulty alternator.
As mentioned above, the instrument can be faulty - dry of faulty solder joints on the connector.
Also ABS plug pins can get dirty causing some instrumentation / CIM module issues.
