    Default Safeguard Check.

I am getting the dreaded "Safeguard Check" message on the display every time I turn on the ignition.

It's a 1.9 Vectra C SRi XP estate, I've had the Opcom diagnostics on it and have looked at the "Vehicle DTC Information" and it is not showning any fault codes that are alarm related.

I've tried setting the alarm whilst still inside the vehicle both with and without the internal sensors activated and all seems to working ok.
(Sensors detect movement and activate the alarm when active and allow movement / do not active the alarm when disabled)

Since I bought the vehicle going on Three years ago the alarm has given me no trouble at all, however I have recently had a couple of false alarms within days of one another and then a couple of days later the aforementioned message started appearing on the display.

Any help would be much appreciated.

reason I ask is because they are know to break through the connectors on the rear window sensors with their claws . there are several threads about it ..if you do a search .

    Have you recently swapped keys?
Do you still have both keys?
    Try using the other key

Once you are in the car, do NOT insert the key into the ignition
    Switch the stereo on
What message appears on the display?
Now insert that key into the ignition
    What message appears now?
    Start the engine
    Is there any change?

No, no dogs, I've had a look at the traces on both the rear off and nearside windows and they look fine.
I've also checked the spade connections behind the interior trim to both windows and again, all appears to be ok.

Both keys are original and the same happens if either is used.

Switch the stereo on = Normal display. (No Message)
Insert key into ignition (Without turning key)= Normal display.
Start the engine = "Check Safeguard" displayed on screen.

Note: I didn't turn the key once inserted into the ignition as the instruction states "Insert key into ignition"

You need to go into the different ecus and look for the codes in there but cant remember which ecu you need to check (I think its the REC ecu).

    Done that.

If you select "Read vehicle DTC information" using Opcom it will read each control module and show if there are any fault codes stored and which module they're stored in.

For any fault codes stored you would then simply go to the relevant control module to read exactly what the fault code is.

As per original post, there are no alarm related DTC's stored.
