    Default Notchy Gearbox

    Hi all
I bought a 56 plate Signum last september from a Network Q dealer.
After driving the car for about 50 miles I noticed the DMF was rattling.
Got the car back to them and they changed it.
All is ok with that but I have noticed it can be a bit difficult engaging 2nd and 3rd gear when the car is cold. Sounds like its grinding when going in.
It seams to loosen up a bit when at operating temp.
Was wondering if this is a 'feature' of the gearbox in these cars or maybe gearbox oil is low?
Do they need to top the oil up after changing the DMF?
Clutch not slipping but I don't know if the full clutch was changed at the time or just the DMF

    Any thoughts would be appreciated

Vx are well known for notchy gear boxes... if it's really bad maybe there's too much fluid in the box

Think there was a field remedy for helping with notchy gears, but i think most are the same especially on cold mornings or if sat over night.

The remedy was to drain the gearbox. I think about 3.2 litres will come out, and replace with 2.4 litres of fresh oil. The lower oil level makes for smoother changes according to Vauxhall.
EDIT: Just to add this is for the F40 six speed manual box.
