Default signum with car with spanner

hi all, just brought a signum 2.0t very happy with my purchase as i got so much for my money however ive got a warning light already lol,

after around 5 mins of driving i get the car with a spanner through it warning light, disapears when i switch the car off then appears 5 mins later. any ideas as i cant plug a diagnostic machine into it as you need to switch the car off to plug it in?

warning light has no affect on the car

    cheers

The ECU should store the fault code in memory for a little while. something like 28 days or 'x' clean start ups.

Does the car/spanner light remain on until the engine is started? If it does, then that indicates there is a stored fault code.

as soon as the engine is cut off the light disapears, tried a few times at the garage but no faults are found

Drive around with the light on for a little while and the fault code should get stored.

If you switch the engine off as soon as the light appears, then no code will get stored. This is to prevent ghost codes from getting stored should the light only come on briefly.

You say the garage haven't found any faults. Is this a Vaux garage with a Tech2 reader, or backstreet with AN Other code reader?

You also didn't answer my question as to whether the car/spanner light remains on until the engine is started?

light on with ignition on but engine off (but goes out with engine on) = stored fault.
Light on with engine on = current fault.
Get it checked if it's a current fault'
