    Default CDTI Swirl Valve

    All,

Just priced the said part today at the dealers. Thought it maybe of interested to members who's CDTI'S are coming out of warranty. My dealer has done loads of these and even carries stock of 5 so that in my mind proves it is becoming a common fault.

The part comes in at around £130 retail but if you can get decent discount it comes at about £95 plus VAT.

    Paul.

It is the valve that controls the fuel flow into/out of the swirl pot in the fuel tank. My first 1.9 CDTi150 (04 reg) suffered this, but my new one seems OK.

swirl actuator is situated in the inlet manifold i have change loads of these we usally change the inlet manifold and the swirl actuator control motor .. the swirl actuator helps with cold start up and is used some times in the engine run program .......usally the inlet manifold buter flys get cloged with **** and this knocks the motor out of sink the later manifolds are modifyd to stop the build up of crud ............

Hope mine doesn't fail again, the car had no power above about 2500rpm. It was seriously rubbish to drive, but deteriorated over a period, so for ages I didn't notice & just thought it was a characteristic.

Then I noticed I was really flooring it to accelerate & started to realise that it wasn't like that to begin with.

Whn fixed TOTALLY different & still feels great now.

It does concern the manifold as I read the engineers report.

It's the old Exhaust Gas Recirculation that puts all that **** into the system. It might be good for the environment but it doesn't help the car in terms of power or life.
