    Angry insurance rip off

just thought i would post this as its ****** me off big time! just bought my new signum design 120 55 plate today and traded my 52 vec gsi in. i phoned my insurer (more than..... the rest) to change over and they bumped an extra 80 quid on to my premium? in my eyes i was down grading so should have been cheaper! i went from £43 to £60ish for the next 5 month NOT HAPPY

Insurance just baffles me as to how they work out the premiums!

Hopefully it'll drop when you come to renew fella :-)

They screw you over WHATEVER you do ,

you down grade a car , they want MORE money ,

There is an accident and it's NOT your fault ,
so your insurance goes up just because you happened to be involved ( involuntarily , though ) ,
you could have been sitting in your house when a car crashes into your empty vehicle , but your premium still rises .

    IT STINKS .

There was one man who had a small hit on his bumper ( probably about £ 100 worth of damgae , i think ) , he rings his insurer to see if it can be done on his policy , BUT later changes his mind and pays for repair himself ,

later when it's time for renewal , his policy went up in price ,
He asked why and they said he had previously " admitted " to being in an accident ,
but he said , he didn't claim through insurance ,
and they said , because he admitted to an accident , he was in a higher risk catorgory of insurance .

Signum is a higher group from what i remember. If you got the same spec Vec to a signum it'd be cheaper to insure. Just sods law that really.

You get a discount after owning a car for more than a year, also the signum is newer and worth more. Also are parts more exspensive for a signum? I know exhausts are if nothing else

Even if he didnt claim he had had an accident (not saying its right just how it is). Thats why no claims dicsount and number of accidents are linked

I wonder if it depends on when you catch the insurer too, time of year or month? when I first insured my old petrol Toledo 1.8 it was £320, 6 months later I also bought a Toledo 1.9tdi, one insurance group higher, yet was charged £100 more. Then when renewal came for petrol one again, £550, I said not a chance, even though I had changed it to my wifes name, she is older than me too, so should have been cheaper again, but nope, they wouldn't have it, so I told AA to shove it up their bum, went to swifty and got it for £390.

I've since got rid of the tdi, but even though not with AA they sent an offer through based on info they have for me, and would be £396 to renew, so a higher risk car, in my name, is only £6 more than my wifes? irrelevant anyway, as have the C, but would love to ask if they fall down much!
