Easiest way, buy a active sub with 'high level input', run power from the battery, tap into the rear door loom for the speaker wires job done. You might find once the sub is fitted the standard speakers fine, you're local to me and i've just fitted a sub so if you want to have a look you're welcome to pop round,

I've got a facelift SRi - and the OE speakers are suprisingly good. The factory fitted components in the front doors really make a difference, especially when you fit an aftermarket head unit.

I'm just waiting to install my sub now, but IMO leave the factory speakers alone.
