I have the exactly same problem with my norwegian Opel Vectra 1.9CDTi 120. I bought the car few months ago and my Opel-dealer have searched for the cause of this several times without luck... Myself,i am wondering about the flywheel..but they won`t change this because there is no sound... I love my car,but this **** is making me hate it...

I had the flywheel amd clutch changed about 8000 miles ago (that was ratteling),mines been makeing that noise well before.and it still is.Its like a hum at about 15000 revs, doesnt do it all the time, but more noticeable,in 2nd gear, and goes when the revs drop under 15000

    Default Me too

I have this as an engine judder at 1500-1600 revs accelerating lightly. If you accelerate harder you pass the 1500-1600 revs spot too fast to notice. So you notice it in 5th or 6th as the acceleration is slower. The last few posts indicate that the EGR valve opens around that mark - is that right?

    Default Noise at 1500rpm

Not sure if this helps but I work away in three month periods so my my Vectra SR1 cdti150 estate stands on the drive and only started once every couple of weeks to keep things moving. Last time I went home the car was started and I heard this strange humming noise at around the same rpm. It was obvious and noticed as soon as I drove off the drive. I switched off the AC and the noise went away. Next day I noticed that the Air con was not really cool as it had been previoiuusly so I got it regassed and the humming noise vanished.
Might not be useful but I thought I would share my experience.

You sure it's just not resonance at that rev range? There's a multitude of things that could cause humming across the rev range. How noticeable is it? Would a passenger notice it without warning or does it seem worse because you're looking for it now you've noticed it?
