    Default aldi heated seat cover

    HI,
I've been using one of these since November on my 54 150 CDTI but the plug recently overheated and partly melted!! Can anyone advise me of a good safe way to hard wire it in?

If it's over heating & melting the plug... i'd be very wary of hard wiring in.

I have used the cigarette lighter plugs for things drawing over 20A (Not on the standard car wiring obviously) and they have not melted. As dh.dti says it has probably melted because of a fault such as a short and would check this before you hard wire it.

To be honest if it's melted the plug under normal working conditions I'd be on to Aldi's management about it...

you only need 'proof of purchase' for faulty items. If you paid by debit card, a bank statement would be sufficient (useless advice if you paid cash, sorry!)

Just to update, as I have no receipt I was advised to 'phone "after sales support". The young lady there mentioned that there had been a recall for some of these covers because of the same problem. I posted mine back today for a replacement but have to say I've lost some confidence in the product.
