gears hard to get.

hi just bought a 1.8 vectra c 52 plate for the other half. all was fine for a few days then today. the gear stick went stiff and would not select gears. so stopped pumped the clutch and the gears came back. drove fine rest of the day. then did it agian. pumped it and fine. but when it does it im not looseing any pedal pressure. bleed the system tonight gonna see what happens. but if the slave cyclinder had gone they would be no pressure.

any ideas when its working fine its great.

I would say the slave cylinder

I would say worn clutch as you need to pump it therefore pushing the slave further out to engage the plates .

Had a similar thing happen to my son's corsa the other week. He lost the clutch and could not select gears. and then the clutch started working again but clutch feel was not the same. On strip down a section of the clutch friction plate had separated off the plate I think initially it had jammed and then dropped clear. The slave cylinder was also on its last legs and needed replaced.
So new clutch and poss slave cylinder. Probably worth replacing if the car has done hi miles anyway

can i get a slave cyclinder from a parts shop or does it have to be vauxhall. was thinking if i get the parts it might be cheaper just to pay someone to fit it

found today that when it sticks. if i lift the clutch pedal up a bit it comes back. but im not loosing pressure.

Did you sort the problem out? All parts are available aftermarket i believe.

i have this exact same problem although mines is only 1st gear and not very often did u find out what it was?
