    Default any computer gurus?

wondering if any of you guys can help. the mr laptop wont connect to the wireless router.
just keeps saying time out when ever i click on the diagnose problems.

ive tried reseting the router, tried disabling and enabling and updating wireless drivers on the laptop.
everything else connects to the router fine and her laptop goes on the net if plug ethernet cable in.

will give bit of back ground as it might.
her step dad surpossidly works on computers as a job (a say surpossidly as every computer in theri house or laptop he meant to have fixed ir erm well not), he had her laptop for a few weeks to sort it out as it as and it came back really playing up, and running really slowly, and the disc drive just fell out the slot

i was on course with a guy thats bit of a computer whizz so i gave him the laptop to take home for the weekend, he took it away and from what i can make out what he told me at the time, he formated everything and started again.
fitted a new disc drive for us and everything was great, apart ftom the fact it wont connect to wireless router.

now im no longer on course , and the mrs moaning at me that she has to be attached to the router in the corner to do her work.

just wondering if you guys have any ideas of how to sort it, anything to download etc?

Right click on 'My Computer' and go to 'Poperties' and click on 'Device Manager', click on the '+' sign in the list next to 'Network Adapters', is there a yellow exclamation symbol next to it? If so there is something wrong with the wireless adapter - either the drivers haven't been installed (sounds like it) or it's broken or there is some sort of hardware conflict.

Did you get the driver with Windows or is it the drive that is from the maker of the wireless card?

Is there a CD/DVD that came with the laptop. This will come with the drivers and always has the drivers from the manufacturer of the components.

Go on the acer website and download the drivers from the support area for the machine you have You can do this using the ethernet cable or using another machine and save the driver download to file and run it on the laptop using a memory stick

Go to the website of the manufacturer of the wireless card and get the driver. Get the model off of the list in Device manager.

You're not going to beleive this I have the same wireless card as you and mine plays up. It's crap btw I have my laptop plugged up via ethernet as the card doesn't pick up the router.

Is your laptop a Samsung by any chance?
