Exclamation It's my clutch guys :(

Hey all, In the past two weeks I've been having a nightmare with my clutch/gears. Trying to put the car into gear is proving a mission at times, with all sorts of crunching and grinding coming from the gear box if it doesn't go in smoothly. Also getting slippage in 4th and 5th gear.

Any ideas of what it is exactly/fixes?

Really need an idea of what I'm looking at

Its a 52 Vectra with 82k on the clock, no problems before

    Cheers

Sounds like a knackered clutch mate!

Especially the fact that it slips in the higher gears.

Could be worth checking gearbix fluid levels (can give notchy symptoms, but unlikely to make the clutch slip), or could be a contaminated friction plate (which would still require the clutch changing.

But mostly likely need a clutch buddy.

Depending if you need Dmf as well then anywhere from £350-£700I'm afraid.

Depends on what engine you've got.

Test it first though, when you're out and about, find a big hill, stick it in third or fourth at about 30-35 mph and plant ya foot.

If it the revs rise but speed doesn't, more than likely it is your clutch.

Not sure about petrol costs, but as far as i'm aware, changing the clutch at 82k on the diesels, you may as well do the dmf as well, and proces on here vary from £600 (private garage non oe parts) to £1200 (dealer prices).
