Default Key Conversion... Has anyone bought this? (Link)

    Hey guys,

Has anyone bought this kit off eBay?

    http://bit.ly/xs8gcS

First of all, was it easy to set up? Did you have to get ur key cut? More importantly, has anyone had any problems with it?

    Cheers

    Lew

I'd say you'd have to get your key cut. They will send you a blank blade.
Looks straight forward though. I didnt know the chip board was the same in both keys? Unless this is a custom built kit which can house it?

Give it a go and let us know

I have the kit but with the square type blade.

I was going to do the conversion on the only key I had but in the end I bought a second key and didnt end up doing it.

Seems to be quite good quality.

There is a few threads on here about this subject.

I have done it, and even dismembered the old key and re-used the metal blade in the new flip key.
BTW, the ebay link you posted is to a seller in Spain, there are UK sellers too.

How difficult was it to fit the old key with the new one?

I don't wanna buy a conversion kit as I don't think my local key cutters will do it!

Would rather salvage the old one its fairly easy

It requires cutting the old key up, removing the metal part and filing the fob end of the key blade to match the blank one.
I would only recommend trying it if you have 2 keys, just in case it goes wrong you will still be able to use the car.

Was it that exact kit I linked or something similar?

How did you sort out the blade? Swap or get it cut?
