    Default Exhaust hanger rusting from exhaust

    Has anyone had problems with the exhaust support hanger brackets rusting away from the exhaust pipe itself.End of last year it broke away from the downpipe and now one of the hanger brackets has rusted away from the 'Y' secton aft of the cat on my 2.2. direct (z22yh)
    The hanger bracket it a peice of hollow tube.Any ideas?

    Yes mate its common. You can just weld some new ones on, a garage wont charge you much for that.

    It's a common problem mate, stainless pipe with mild steel brackets.......the welds just rot.

    Simple enough to weld back on though

    as above costs a couple quid to get fixed, my local tyre place did mine for a tenner whilst i was having 2 tyres changed

    Why on earth weld steel brackets onto a st st exhaust? Not the done thing to mix the two and must save pennies.

    Yes I had it on my 07 cdti 150 but I brought custom stainless steel duplex vxr exhaust

    Thanks all for the response.I just need to find someone willing to weld them back on.I really need new brackets though because where it has rusted these not much metel left.
