Gear box faulty?

Hi I have vectra c estate 1.8vvti. 54kmiles
On the way home going down the dual carrage way doing about 50-60 i started go get a whining noise.If i accelerated it got louder.If i pressed the clutch in the noise would go.you cant hear the noise until you get to about 50mph.
Does this sound like my gear box is on its way out?

Yep unfortunately mate it does sound like the box get some warranty bought for the car then claim mate

I have already got a third party warranty on the car, will this be covered or will it be classed as wear and tear?

A gear box should not fail at 54k mate not at all
