Default VXR Backbox & exhaust insert

Will the VXR backboxes fit straight onto the 3.2 gsi, I fancy a change and was wondering if they were a straight replacement.

Also is the plastic exhaust insert from the vxr a straight replacement to the GSI's existing one.

    Cheers

To be honest mate, I wouldn't buy the VXR backboxes. If you have a close look at them they look **** in my opinion. They have stainless tips on the end! What's all that about?

If I was you (and you really wanted the VXR insert and bumper skirt) I'd get these fitted first then go to a custom exhaust manufacturer and get a proper stainless system fitted. I used Powerflow but there are others.

The VXR OE exhaust is actually a full stainless Remus system developed with OPC, but fitted with those bolt on tailpipes.

For an OE exhaust is actually very good, the only thing that would improve it is a sports cat.

It would probably be more economical to wait until a few VXR owner's have replaced their systems and get one second hand, as at a guess the price from Vxl would be very high.

sorry to hi-jack your thread mate but My plans sound similar to your own, when I bought my car it had a Powerflow twin exit system fitted by the previous owner to replace the standard twin exits (3.2 V6), I was planning on fitting the VXR insert but just to clarify, will I need to buy the actual skirt first for the VXR insert to fit into or does the VXR insert fit into the existing skirt on my Elite??
I thought I had this sorted from a previous thread but reading this has got me thinking again

I'm sure the Elite rear bumper is different from the SRi/GSi/VXR rear bumper matey.

    Elite -

    SRi -

The VXR rear has a different Insert between the exhausts and an apron but has the same basic bumper as the SRi/GSi's.

I'm not sure if the facelifts are different or not, but I'm sure someone else can clarify.

You will need to buy an SRi bumper Kev, none of the VXR skirt will fit the standard Elite bumper.

If you buy a new Elite with styling pack from the factory, they fit an SRi rear bumper.

Ok, with a standard SRi re-bumper then, can I fit the VXR Centre section, to suit twin pipes, or do I need the whole lower skirt too, as shown? Cause I quite fancy fitting the VXR centre section.

    Cheers

The VXR centre peice, the difuser type section of the skirt, will fit on it's own to a Vectra SRi/GSi type rear bumper in place of the original.
