Hey all, I know this has probably been asked more than once on the forum. The Vec is going to fail the MOT, one reason is the headlights and they need to be changed - not just the bulbs but the whole unit on both sides.

My question is how easy / hard is this and can any body offer any hints / advice.

    Cheers in advance

Is it because they're all frosted over on the outside? http://www.vectra-c.com/forum/showth...64#post1509464

It's a bit messy - modern cars you usually have to take the front bumper off, which usually means starting with the grill, wheels and wheel arch liners to get at the bumper screws and bolts. With the bumper off, the headlamps are easy to unbolt.
If you give you model and year people may be more helpful.

What's the problem - is it the headlamp plastic "glass" gone cloudy ? You can re-polish the headlamp using very fine paste - try Siff (Giff ?) milky cleaner. Polish a corner as a test.

Hi, yeah both have gone very cloudy - it looks like nicotine stains on the glass and desperately need to get it through MOT - currently CAT C, so MOT, VIC, tax - what joy!!

Also gotta get some tyres for it and money is real tight but may have that issue sorted.

there is a guide on here for sanding them back using various grades of sanding then polishing them up, they come up like new, if you plan on getting new ones, i would attack your olds ones first, save a few pennies if it does work, and if it doesnt, nothing lost as you would be getting new ones anyway
