    Default Torque wrench/wheel brace

Hi all. May be a daft question this, Everytime I remove the wheels off my vec be it for cleaning the arches Or for maintanance etc I have just been using the wheel have supplied with the car as I do not own a proper wheel brace or a torque wrench for that matter. In the next few weeks (depending on weather) I'm hoping to give the car a real good clean including removing all wheels and cleaning and dressing the arches and back of the alloys, do you think it's worth me buying a proper wheel brace and torque wrench if I keep intending to remove the wheels etc (I don't mean I take them off every weekend ha just every now and then ) I know there is an old toque wrench in my dads garage that he doesn't use, I don't know how old it is or how good it is though. Rob

torque wrenches are a bit OTT mate , i'd recommend getting a half decent cracking bar though , they are very usefull and you will soon get the feel of how tight is right !

Well that's why I haven't got one as the thing I'd use it for would be the wheels, I will have a look in lidls though. As said I may just get a good brace/bar

A torque wrench IS THE ONLY THING you should use to tighten wheel bolts up correctly !!!!

They have a specific torque they are designed for if ou undertighten them then you could loose a wheel.

If you over tighten them then you could break a bolt, crack a wheel (it has been known) or imagine this ....... on the hard shoulder at 2AM in the pishing rain trying to undo a bolt with the flimsy standard wheel brace !!!!!! not fun at all

For a few pounds i would always recomend a torque wrench even if it is only used to tighten wheel bolts occasionally.

    Back in a V6 !!!!!!!!!!!! And lovin it !!!

Yeah I see ur point, I guess for the money they cost it's worth getting one.

110nm. Remember to always unwind the tension on it when not in use too.
