    Default Newbie looking for some Vec C buying advice

    Am planning to upgrade to a C soon and am doing my homework before i buy as i got stung badly with faults on my Vec B.
    Im planning on getting an 05-07 SRi with the 1.9 150 engine and sat nav. I know that the egr, swirl flaps and DMF give trouble. I read that an improved inlet was brought out on the later cars to sort the swirl flap issues, is there a way of knowing if a car has the old or new type? Theres something about injector no.3 playing up, what exactly goes wrong with it? And is it a straight forward inexpensive fix?
    Also is there anything else to look out for under the bonnet?
    Talking about the car as a whole what else should I be checking? Electrics, bushes, suspension, rust etc etc......
    My last car turned out to be a money pit lol so dont want to make the same mistakes again

    edit: do they all have 6 speed boxes or only some?

    As with all Vec-c's and signums, check the springs. They all fail at some point

    I've recently bought a Vec C (3 weeks ago) and looked at at least 7 vehicles in all. All diesels as that's what I was after. Four of them had a problem with the water temperature not reading or reading intermittently.

    Oh, and the DMF seems to be a weakness on them from my research and experience.
    Thanks god for warranties!

    Starting trouble seems to be another problem experienced with some diesels. Dead easy to fix though, I fitted a new Glow plug relay and that fixed it quick smart.

    Also some cars maybe badged and recorded on the v5 as 150's but are 120's and vice versa. The easy way to check is with the location of the oil filler under the bonnet. The 150 is on the right, the 120 is on the left.

    Drove past it the other day and it looked nice, although it was only a passing glance.
    Now I need a turbo to keep up!
