Default What size tyres for facelift SRi 17" alloys?

What size tyres do I need for my facelift SRi?
It's on 17" alloys, here is a picture

I understand that different types of tyres will fit on these wheels, some cheaper than others... so what tyres do you guys put on yours??

    Vehicle : Signum

    Trim : Design

    Engine : 1.9 CDTi

    Year : 2005

    Default

    225/45/17 or 215/50/17

Most opt for the 225/45/17 as they sit nicer and give more tyre on the road.

And they're generally cheaper than the 215/50/17 as it's a more common size.

    Those look like 215/50R17

Usual advice is to wear out the tyres on the front, then swap the rears to the front, the new tyres are then on the rear
This gives you the maximum average tread
Also it prevents the same tyres being on the rear and avoiding the known issues this brings

When the Vectra C first came out the 215/50R17 was very expensive and many people swapped to the 225/45R17
However the manufacturers have put a lot of effort in, especially recently, to bring the two sizes nearer together in price and performance
Therefore get prices on what you prefer
Some people prefer the cheapest, others specific tread patterns, others specific brands
    Personally, I prefer Michelin

Nextly, have a full four wheel alignment carried out, if it has never had one
The difference from factory can be quite significant
It's not cheap at around £75, but well worth it compared to the basic front wheel alignment check

Back to the specific tyres on your car
    What tread depth remains?
At 3mm the front tyres start to lose their performance and need replacing
You might want to wait a couple of weeks if you can, the Goodyear NCT5 and Eagle are being merged into a new NCT5 (order code NCT512) , and it is well worth it
Alternatively look at the Michelin Pilot PS3, this is their latest tread pattern (almost identical to the new NCT5)

Them tyres look worn out to me i have the same make tyres from camskill and they are fantastic yes after reading the thread spoons put up I keep a eye on the tyres but I've compared all the pics if them tyres with the blue out and compared them to my tyres and I would say they have had a very hard life no wonder they blew out and got bulged

Also road noise has gone right down since I got rid of the goodyears that were on and the grip. Is a lot better

For another £7 I can get 225/45/17 Uniroyal Rainsport 2's delivered by Camskill and fitted by ATS. I know which tyre I would sooner have.

Have yet to have a decent quote given to me by Blackcircles. They've always been among the dearest when I've shopped round for tyres.
