    Default Should i do it?

I have a 2003 vectra 1.8 petrol. I cannot decide whether to do the cam belt and water pump on it yet. It had a cam belt change in Jan 2008 by vauxhall at 50,000. It has now done 65,000. Though i know it has only done 15,000 since last change it has been 4 years. I am driving the car to scotland later this year and don't want any problems. I have heard some stories of the water pumps failing etc. Has anybody else had any bad experiences with these. Should i do the belt and pump yet or not???

15k seems very early to be replacing the cam belt and water pump but then I think 4 years was the recommended interval - they (Vx dealers) always play on the safe side as the result of failure is so severe.

No one is going to tell you it will definitely be ok, so you'll have to weigh up the cost of doing it now and be ok for 4 more years, or take the risk f a new car if it goes...! I would just get it replaced if you're worrying about it. Probably £200 or so.

Cheers, think i might do it just for peace of mind. I'll be doing it myself anyway so maybe do it for £80 but if i am doing the belt and pulleys i will DEFO do the water pump. Done cam belts on these engines before, they quite easy. I'm assuming the water pump is an easy task too anyone?
