    Default Alpine 9850Ri

    Hi Folks

fitted an Alpine 9850Ri to my car last night, and I can't recommend this unit enough. The OEM head unit was a ***** to get out for some reason, had to use a hammer and chisel in the end, and my hands are cut to shreds, but it was worth it. Unfortunately, I ordered the wrong colour fascia adaptor so I'll have to replace that.

But, the unit has a direct IPOD connection so you can control your IPOD from the head unit! Fantastic!

Undecided on whether I'm going to shell out for a steering wheel adaptor, as I'm not sure it will do all the funky IPOD stuff.

But, a big thumbs-up from me.

I fitted a an Alpine 9850ri into the wifes MR2..fantastic bit of kit.

What does the screen show on your dash now that it cannot connect to the normal stereo?

Just wondering as I am thinking of replacing the stereo or buying the Harman Kardon drive and play...not sure which yet.

Yeah, the top half of the display shows nothing but I expected that. To be honest, the Alpine has given the standard speakers a new lease of life so I wouldn't entertain just getting the Drive/Play when you can get much better sound quality for £40(?) more?

I have a company car, so didn't want to rip out the oem stereo, I've fitted a HK drive'n'playto my CDC40 & very pleased with the result, got it off e-bay for £80
