    Default Z22SE & Z22YH Engine Applications

    Hi Everyone,

    Quick question.

Was the Z22YH engine available in any other Vauxhall platform other than the Vectra C and Signum?

    Thanks for any info.

Sorry I haven't replied to this thread, completely forgot with the fun i've been having with my C.

I've been having issues with random misses and judders. Replaced the CTS and lambda sensors and the miss is still there. Just before Christmas I noticed a really horrible sulpher burning smell.

This is pointing me to the manifold catalytic convertor. So....i've managed to grab what I think is a bargin; a brand new Lexmaul manifold for a couple of hundred quid (I never replace wear items with standard parts). However on receiving the manicat I have realised it's for the Z22SE/YH Astra G/Zafira application (Hence the question). To cut a long question short, will this fit my Vec C Z22SE? Otherwise it has to be a standard manicat!

The engine sits the same way in all cars, as in the zorst manifold it at the back so thats fine, if there is a slight difference to could cut and shut it or even the flexi could take it up. The other after market manifold fit Vec C, Astra and Vec B so I cant really see any problems mate.

Just the person I wanted to see reply.

I don't mind a bit of trimming to fit, anything to not fit a standard manicat!

Is there any difference in pipe diameter (as in the 4 branches) between the Vec C and Zafira/Astra? Are pipe lengths different or is it all much the same? I checked on the LMF website and saw they listed the Vec C as a seperate manicat to the Astra/Zafira Z22SE/YH. Wondered why.

The Astra, Zaffy A and Vec B didn't have a manicat, they just had a cast manifold, separate downpipe and the traditional cat under the car. So the Vec C has a totaly different manifold to all the rest, the only one that might be similar is the Zaffy B with the Z22YH.

I have seen a Vec C with a Z22SE fitted with the same dbilas manifold as the Astra/Vec b, it then had a Landrover downpipe fitted with a sports cat fitted under the car.

This is Vids old Vec C with the above setup.

The sulphur smell is a symptom of your problem, it's not the cause. It's more likely that one or more of the ignition coils is malfunctioning, causing unburnt fuel to enter the cat. If that's the case, then changing the cat won't solve your problems.
