Default Best way to get the rooflining down on a signum

Hey guys, i did a search on the forum but most of roof lining down jobs were done on vectras,

im trying to fit a dummy shark fin aerial, to solve two problems,
1, my rubber has gone and the roof lining has water in it
    2, it looks swish

so yeah, ive already took down the rear grab handles and im wondering how to or if i need to, take the seat belt in the roof out aswell?
it seemed quite snug and i dont wanna break anything

i dont think i need to take the lot down (or at least i hope) so is it just a case of easing it out :S when the handles etc are off?

any advice would be sweet as i only had a breif go yesterday and it seemed a bit awkward many thanks

If you just want to get to the aerial mount then all you need to do is pull the rubber seal back along the tailgate end of the roof lining.
The lining is not retained in any other way slide your hand under the lining keeping it as flat as possible so that the whole rear edge has dropped free .
Put some masking tape along the edge of the liner to stop it delaminating .
you can then reach in and find the fixing nut for the aerial 10mm nut , the aerial cable has a conncttor close to the aerial held by a retaining pin just need to hold this and free it from its holder then the lead can be extracted out through the roof .
    refit is the reverse.

thanks for that bobsignum and thats really quite helpful, its just i was planning on going to town on the aerial with clear silicon, even underneath which is why im thinking of taking it down sort of half way, if you get me, just so i can get the silicon gun in etc

and also after reading some advice on here, i was attempting to refit the standard aerial in the void in the roof lining, as the shark fin top is only a dummy,
if it will work or not i have no clue..

I fitted my shark fin buy pulling the lining down at the back like bobs post above, just make sure to put some masking tape on the lining to stop it delaminating like it has on mine as i forgot to do that.

the rain has literally not held off all day so not attempted it lol, im back at chaos aka work on monday and will not have a minute to myself till... easter
so i hope its nicer tommorow.

do you guys think this idea will work, of sandwiching the older aerial and base in the roof lining and then putting the dummy fin on top and silicon'd to death?

Dont kmow mate, the aerial base on mine was broken so i cut off all the plastic casing from the aerial base and put this inside the fake shark fin.

That's a genius idea but I'm not sure my shark fin is big enough to accept the original aerial
    Hmmm

Putting the ariel between the roof and the roof lining will stop the radio reception. The roof is metal and earthed so will act as a faraday cage stopping most of the signals. This is why most ariels are outside of the car.
Why not get a fully working shark fin (assume you have sat nav as it's a signum). I think it's been done on here before.
