    Default Steinbauer Powerbox fitted!

Well guys, I finally got my Steinbauer Power box I won on ebay
Me and my mate fitted it in early December Done about 6k since fitted. The car is not that much more powerful, however, it's much smoother and more driveable which is what I was hoping to achieve I came back home from my Christmas trip to the UK for new year's eve. 4300km and used less than 300L of fuel...that works out at 41mpg, which is good considering I was constantly using all of the 210 horses in Germany Should say the car is not smoking more than it used to which is a positive thing too

It's not turned right up cos I'm scared of blowing the engine to pieces I think that only two switches are up and there are 4...I'm not even sure I have 210bhp, more like the 177 brought back to life

Glad you're enjoying your box Mine, although it's not the same, makes the car feel like it has the map that it should have been given in the first place - better driveability and better (smoother) low down punch Top end power does not seem much different, but I don't use that much and if I wanted to be up there, I would have got a petrol

I do seem to have a bit more smoke (when cold), but some of that has to be down to to the failing DPF, but I don't care the cost of our family holiday in Italy to replace the damn DPF, so enjoy the power and the sunshine...

It's now turned to 100% (Steinbauer factory map), it was to 90% before. The car is superbly smooth and as you said...it feels like it has the map that it should have been given from the start I'm not getting much smoke, only the first time I boot it and I think that's down to the fact that I drive under 1700rpm when warming the engine up plus it's due a service now...
Mpg has gone up too 500miles to 3/4 of a tank of premium fuel, 70-80mph on the motorway. It did 60miles less before I fitted the box...

    Nice reading, this topic.

I also have a Z30DT in my Vec estate and at the moment it does about 35 mpg, mostly due to lots of city traffic, on the motorway I get about 38mpg driving between 70 and 80 mph. Will the Steinbauer box improve this much? It already has 100k miles...

I'm in the Netherlands by the way, so maybe the conversions from metric to imperial are not quite correct...

I use google to convert from metric to imperial
Before I fitted the box the car had a fuel consumption of about 7.3-7.5L/100km (about 39-37mpg), mixed driving (10% town, 70% motorway, 20% country roads) ranging from slow to top speed, but mostly quite quick. I haven't really changed the way I drive, but the fuel consumption went down by 0.5L on 100km and I'm doing even more town driving lately because of university...

I filled up with Shell V-Power in the Netherlands and was quite disappointed tbh. The engine was a bit noisier than usual. It ran better with Total diesel, even better with Total premium.

It's about to clock 245.000km (152k miles) and going for an oil change tomorrow afternoon Expecting even better fuel consumption with fresh oil and filters.

Sounds great, now the search can begin, think ebay will be the most likely place to find one.

About the v-power, years ago when they first introduced it I found that V power diesel did improve performance just a little bit, but fuel consumption went up by about 50 km per full tank. Then some time later they changed regular diesel to "fuel save" to suggest it makes your engine more fuel efficient.

So first they introduce a fuel that makes your engine consume more, the they change the other fuel to suggest that it consumes less. Scammers...
