My car has done just over 70k, should I be changing the timing belt or will it go to 80k ok?

I would consider changing it if u don't know the history mate
It's been serviced by a local dealer from new bud......in the book it's 100k but thats obviously pushing it for the tensioners
That is what I mean if u don't know for deffo its been done get it done now lol
It's the water pump that tends to seize on them. I just done mine a couple month back at 55k (5 years) wasn't wanting to take a chance
I don't let them go over 60k. Belt looked quite worn when I got it done. Mine is due in 6k by that rule of mine. Water pumps are cheap pieces of crap tbh so change them with the belt. When mine got done the water pump bearing was starting to collapse.
change it mate and get water pump done as well best 200-300 quid youll ever spend for peace of mind
For what it's worth John, I plan to do mine at 75K or there abouts I reckon 75% of the recommended usage would be a good margin for safety.
