    Default Just got pulled!

Just been to drop a couple of friends off after a night of film watching when on my way home a mondeo came up (close) behind me. (Naturally) I put my foot down to make a bit of a gap, as you do. The car then followed me all the way nearly to my house. I parked up near to my house just in case it was some kids who were thinking about nicking it, and turned the lights off. Then, the mondeo re-appeared from a different direction, pulled up just behind me, stopped, and drove off. I then turned the lights on and trundled after it, to the bottom of my street. A bloke stepped out. He then began to explain to me that he was an off duty police officer. He said had i not followed him down the road the would have called me in to my local shop for them to come and have a word with me. To be fair he was a nice chap and i've taken heed of his advice to keep it calm, even though i thought he was getting a bit close!!!

Beware guys. Sometimes all is not what it seems.

I would have told him to wind his neck in and get a life. What evidence would he have of you doing anything? He is alone in his own car ffs, I would have asked him for ID, then made a complaint about aggressive driving/harassment !

You did ask to see his ID didn't you?

Yes, I agree probably a fake. Even if they were an off duty police officer - they have no right to pull you over when they are driving a personal/private vehicle.

One off duty police officer nearly ran up my rear one time in an old mondeo, and the plonker then pulled alongside me at traffic lights, flashed his badge at me and told me to pull over. I should my head and told him to get lost, which he did!

PS - I'm not anti police in the slightest. They generally do a great job. But, like in any other job -- there's always one.

I thought all police officers on duty or off duty should carry there " warrant cards " , to clearly identify themselves when making an arrest or repremanding you......

    sorry -- "shook" rather

i'd never pull the car over for someone claiming to be an off duty cop, card/badge or not. no chance.
if they really need to stop your car, they can call the station to get a uniformed officer to stop you - the way it should be done.

I did have my doubts about his genuine-ness. He also had HIDS (maybe 7000k) in non-projecting headlights!!!

Agreed - an off-duty plodster wouldn't put himself at risk by parking up behind you without the assistance of his radio, bondage cuffs and smelly gas stuff - he'd more likely observe you from a safe distance and call for back-up if he could be that bothered. You were hardly committing the crime of the century. This smells of a playtime coppa wannabe, or a Vectra tea-leaf in disguise!! Did you get his reg number or collar number - if so, ring the plod-station and check him out!

Don't think off duty cops would be arsed to do all this. They get enough of it on duty surely. And as said, given what's happening in this world they would be very wary about approaching anyone without the basic equipement. Did you get his car reg?
