    Default Squeaky blower motor fixed!

Well - since my bloomin drain in the bulkhead blocked last few weeks water got into the blower motor and has since started squeaking. Last week been AWFULL on all speeds.

So yesterday I removed the blower motor unit, split the motor out from the plastic casing and re-greased the bottom (that had bad water marks) with molly grease (used for hi temp hi speed bearings to shouldnt dry again) and re-assembled.

Result - complete silence! no squeals or cherps!!.. the main motor shaft had also dropped so a few taps with a hammer later and there was no play in the shaft anymore..

thats saved me a few £££

    Cheers

    A

    ps. Happy new year all..

Spray some WD40 over the motor through the pollen filter access, should sort any issues out with no after effects,(I know it's obvious, but take the pollen filter out first!!). FELIXX.

My advice is not to use WD - use silicone spray instead.

However the bearings are right at the bottom of the motor and you will be lucky if much gets there.. You alo have a slim chance of bowing your resister that sits in the ducting if it gets toooo wet...

I understand what you're saying, but I spray mine on a regular basis and have never had any problems whatsoever with it.I've even taken to taping an air freshener to the filter to make sure that there is a constant fresh smell in the cabin!!!. FELIXX.

Thats all good then mate.. I would have thought will defo help prevent the dreaded squeaking.. What I mean is I dont think it will resolve it once it starts squeaking knowing where they tend to squeak from..
    Good prevention tho!

Hiya Felixx. Got a 55 plate FL vectra myself, just bought it actually and the squeaky motor has been bothering us a little bit too.

Can I ask a question? How do you get to the motor? Wheres the pollen filter I need to remove? Sorry for dumb questions - just need to know where to look first

Right hand side looking into engine bay on the back bulkhead.

Need to lft a rubber flap up and you will see it there.

Also a good idea whilst your in that area is to check your bulkhead drain plug which is sited just below the pollen filter. Prob full of leaves.
