    Default Buying A New PC

    Happy New Year everyone..!

I am on the hunt for a new PC to replace my current one which is starting to get tired now.

Looking to spend upto about £1K at a push

I play a few games which are pretty graphic intensive... This is what i have come up with so far:

    • INTEL i7-2600K (Factory Unlocked) Quad Core Sandy Bridge CPU, 3.4GHz, LGA1155
    • ASUS Socket 1155 ATX Motherboard
    • KINGSTON HYPER X 2x4GB 1600MHz DDR3
    • Nvidia GTX 560TI Graphics Card 1Gb
    • OCZ Agility 3 120gb SSD (for OS and Apps)
    • 750W OCZ ZS PSU

How does this sound against what else is available on the market today? Am i looking in the right direction to suit my needs?

    Any feedback would be appreciated.

    Good spec that !

    Have a look at

    http://www.cclonline.com/

they seem to know what is what with gaming pc's

and can supply built machines as well as components..

main thing for games is graphics speed + memory speed + cpu speed +
motherboard speed + hard drive speed + adequate cooling + good power supply etc

so basically no weak areas in the whole machine - that's why they cost !!

    or

    check out the gaming mags..

Have you priced these items individually? Maybe worth looking at a custom build for the money you have.

Have thought that might be a better route to go down. I have spoken with Overclockers and they can do a simliar spec for under £1K. And they can OC it to something like 4.6ghz!!

I built a custom gaming PC around 3 years ago with all top notch parts at the time and it cost me around £950 with out the OS. It would have cost around £1500 to buy the same sort of spec.

The only problem i forsee with building myself (which i am more than capable of doing) is if i want to go down the Overclocking route.

I have not got a clue when it comes to the other than standard cooling methods!

Then again, do i really need a 4.6ghz PC?

I think we always want to get the best from what we have at a good price. Maybe just do a bit of research into OC. I was rather tempted to water cool mine but the price out weighed then pro's so just want with normal fans, but an awful lot of them.
