Default Put 4 litres of petrol in 1.9CDTI - what should I do

What a plonker I pulled in to fuel up and put 4 litres of unleaded in before I realized and then put 20 litres of diesel in on top. Didn't have enough money on me to fill it up. I've looked on the net and seem to be conflicting advice. I have driven the car home about 10 miles and it seems to run OK. I've wondering if I just fill up with diesel if it will be OK. Or do i need to drain and replace the filters

I personally would brim it and keep it brimmed to dilute, wouldn't be too concerned about 4l but that's just me.

    youve 2 choices.

    1. drain it down, change filters, flush tank and refill with diesel.

    2. brim it with diesel, which will thin out the petrol and make it less noticeable.

johnboy is right, especially in wagons, putting a bit of petrol in with your diesel cleans the system, but the problem with modern diesels and their attire of sensors, it dosent always agree. i wouldent worry too much mate, id go with the second option.

20litres is too much, drain the tank m8 petrol can actually eat the seals in a deisel fuel line and with the litres of petrol you have put in would mean you would have a Diesel to Petrol ratio of 2:1. For me that's too low and therefore I recommend draining the tank and filling up with diesel.

God only knows where the 20litres came from. Still if someone has or does put 20litres in their tank they know what to do.
