Default XP or not XP, that is the question!

I know this is an insurance question, but wanted to throw it out to everyone so i put it here

The time has come again to get another years worth of insurance, i have had to leave my renewal due to it being £500 more than last year! anyway i wont rant on

The thing is on my new quote i am unsure wether to stick with what my REG throws up (a standard sri 150) or to change it to an XP sri, i have the front splitter, XP skirts, XP rear, VXR valance and snowies, so its more or less an XP now, was just thinking rather than declaring all individually, should i just change it to an XP? what would you do?

I would be careful about changing the car to an XP to save insurance costs. In the event of a claim the assessor "might" know the difference.

I would be paying extra anyway to have it listed as an xp, I'll just put the reg in and leave it as an Sri

Extras don't cost me any extra insurance wise. You should always decalre mods anyway.

Does XP even show up as an option when searching for insurance? I think someone said it does appear on the V5 though. You could always try arguing with the DVLA and having it added to your V5, if this is the case. I know a mate managed to get his V5 changed with a Golf TDGTi he had.

when i renewed my insurance i too queried the xp edition vs the standard sri as i have fitted 19" vxr wheels and wanted to know what the extras would cost if i changed the rear bumper for the dual exit and added the xp insert the extra cost my policy would load was for the dual exhaust my wheels did not cost me any more on my policy as they are genuine vxl wheels they just asked me to ensure i had a picture of them fitted on the car as proof

Here's a my discussion about the mods in insurance company aspect. Maybe it helps.

I am strongly convinced that you should only report it to them to update car pics they have. It's not a factory add so the value of your car shouldn't increase IMO.
