- obviously depends on what you enjoy, I've been there a three times and have never set foot in an art gallery!
- obviously empire state building, but "top of the rock" is also very good for city views.
- Times square is incredible, especially at night when everything is lit up!
- I found the statue of liberty to be a bit.....small! not quite as impressive as the movies make out!
- I personally like the USS intrepid, the Air and Space museum
- I found the NYPD museum quite interesting (it is tucked away in downtown manhattan) though quite small
- Don't forget there is also more to New york than just manhattan (though that is where most of the attractions are!)
What I can definitely recommend however is get a new york pass each, should save you money - www.newyorkpass.com/ basically gets you free or cheap entry to virtually every attraction in new york!!!! as well as giving you a handy guidebook and map!!
What mungo says
New York pass is a godsend , they even have an iPhone app
You must do ground zero , some of the bits are open to the publiC but it is still a Very emotional place
Oh and don't waste money on a cab to or from. The airport , if you are landing at JFK you get the air train to Jamaica station then $2.40 for a single trip on the subway to manhattan

Yep, what they said!! New York is thee coolest place in the world, I love it!! I did the Empire state at night time and top of the rock during the day to get the 2 different views!! You must go I've skating in central park we didn't go right out to the statue of liberty as heard the queues were massive and security took a while, but we did a circle cruise round about and got cracking pics from the boat!!
Ooh go to staten island too, the ferry is free and you get an amazing view of manhattan on the way back across! Also, what you want to do is go to Juniors on W45th street between broadway and 8th avenue and have thee best cheesecake in the world!! They do an awesome breakfast too.
Aw man, just take me with you's please!! Hahaha
Thanks guys the best part is the flights were £98 each with virgin we are staying just off time square so pretty much close to everything too
I think the plan is
empire state building
rockafella centre
central park
ground zero
Lots of shopping (we are allowed 3 suit cases each)
Gonna be a busy weekend lol
You'll find the shopping really expensive , but don't do what I did , walked through the ground floor of Macy's and think this is not that big without realising there's was another 8 floors above it !!
Oh and if you want a really good meal that's not that expensive , try the olive garden in times square , was really nice
How did you manage to get flights for £98 ?????

What part of New York did you go to? Because I have literally saved the cost of the trip buying clothes there. EG- Jeans, Trainers , Designer dresses,
We once got a Dinner set that was £1100 in John Lewis for $380. Saved the cost of the flights right there (although we had to ship it back on its own)
Go to American Eagle too. They've got a flagship store. It's got great stuff for good prices. Jeans and stuff. And of course, being in America meant I was a size 6! Hurrah
Make sure you dress up warm... its ****ing freezing in New York this time of year, especially if you go up the Empire State Building
