hiya mate, have you read this?? when i joined the site i thought i was good at cleaning my car, but after i read through this i realised i was wrong, this how 2 if you wanna call it that is excellent, i know there are a hell of a lot of products available but most of it is personal preferance i guess, dont get me wrong im no car detailer but reading this old thread helped me know the basics and the correct method to follow, after i read this i cleaned my car following this method and the result was amazing. im yet to try clay but have recently bought some so going to give it a go.

oh yeah just to warn you, after i read that how 2 i threw all my old cleaning products away (including my sponge and chamois ) and bought loads of better products including wash mitts and drying towels ha. this would have cost a small fortune but as i was just before xmas (2 years ago now) i asked wife and family for halfords vouchers or money to buy the gear. they tend to last a good while so your not buying it all the time. did you have a read through that how 2?

    as in products you mean??

as said before nobody can tell you what prducts to use as everybody has their fav products. i guess im a novice so ill tell you what i have. which mainly consists of megs and autoglym. no matter what products you use you want to get yourself the basics like a good wash mitt and two buckets a drying towel and a brush for cleaning alloys i also use a pressure washer and snowfoam lance. i have megs cold class wash, tyre dressing, megs metal polish (for exhaust) nxt gen spray wax (which i dont like) and use megs 3 step system paint restorer polish and wax. i also use autoglym srp polish, autoglym extra gloss sealer, and various other ag products. not that you will be using all these everytime you clean your car. lets say i give my car a proper clean, i mean snowfoam wash polish sealer and wax etc, the next time i clean it ill just jetwash the loose mug off wash it with wash mitt and after drying it use autoglym spray aquawax. its been nearly a year since i gave it a good going over so its well overdue for a good clean, only this time im going to give megs clay a go as ive never used it before. sorry for long post ha

As said above, buy the basics first, ditch the sponge and buy 2 decent buckets, wash mitt, good shampoo, and a decent drying towel. If you have enough money buy a bottle of Autobrite extreme glaze, and a wax of your choice, that will keep you going for a long time.
