Bad news after engine rattle...........

Had the RAC out today to my 1.9 CDTI SRI due to a knocking noise on start up and driving - had exhaust checked locally and it was fine.

The RAC found 3 engine mount bolts loose and they have fixed the knocking. Great I thought until................

They told me that I need a new Inlet Manifold as one of the linkage connectors is lifting and spraying oil. The linkage bar is lying loose in the engine!!

Any thoughts on price etc

About £160 for the parts and about 5-6 hours labour

I have contacted the garage that I purchased it from 2 months ago and they are having it back at 10am tomorrow, as the RAC said that it is not new damage, it has been like it for some time!!

Never looked under the cover to be honest!!

It does take a while to wear but 9 times out of 10 its 'wear and tear' and to do with the exhaust system and warrantys dont cover it.

Hopefully your the 1 out of the 10.

Maybe the garage feel guilty for leaving engine mount bolts undone after fitting the clutch and dual mass flywheel!!

Will see at 10am but it's a 2 hour drive for me.......

Car went back to the garage I bought it from this morning - their mechanic confirmed the inlet manifold had failed...............

Good news - booked into Vx main dealer for Tuesday and will have her back on Wednesday.

No bill for me either, as garage are paying the bill.

Great - glad RAC found it before the 6th Jan 2012!!
