Be very, very careful when cleaning the MAP sensor. IME, don't push anything down the hole on the MAP or put any cleaning fluid down the hole. I'm thinking I may have done this to mine (I can't honenestly remember but I could have ) and this may have caused my problem, hence one new MAP sensor. It may also have been a coincidence that the MAP gave up working when I changed it.

Have you checked/tested the MAP sensor as per these links http://ww2.justanswer.com/uploads/sk...97_tercel2.pdf and [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B8EVhFc5Yqw"]Map Sensor Testing - YouTube[/ame] ??

I had the 5v present on one of the outer of the three pins with the MAP connected (the other outer pin is the earth) but only 0.3v on the centre pin no matter what vacuum I applied. You don't need a vacuum pump, just suck on a length of hose and see if the voltage changes.

    HTH - good luck.

    Hi guys.
Have a good news. Took outy the sensor and boy oh boy, it was really very dirty. Cleaned out it with carb cleaner, refitted, and no mistakes so far. Hope that that will solve the problem for some time.
    Thanks for great suggestions

Good news Kippa . Let us know if all's OK in a few weeks mate.

To answer your question about how dirty was my MAP - only a light covering of soot on the sticking out bit and the hole was clear. That will teach me to leave well alone. My wife has made this very clear to me from now on .

    It's quite a simple process
However most dealerships won't do this, their normal procedure is the diagnostic route

Safe mode limits the revs to about 2000rpm and as you have noticed the idle revs are raised
In safe mode the camshaft and crankshaft sensors are ignored
As soon as the car is in motion the idle rev condition is no longer required

I used this as an example of a non-dependant sensor, not your specific issue
When this sensor fails it does NOT put the engine into safe mode, but the warning light still comes on

If you want to test the warning system, simply disconnect the MAF sensor, this is one of the easiest to access

Finally, once you have had a warning it remains displayed for some time
The usual solution is to stop the car, then switch it off, then wait about 10 to 15 minutes
If the fault is still present (safe mode remains active) then it needs to be attended to immediately
However in most cases the warning light stays on but safe mode no longer applies, this confirms the fault code is now only stored
You can get the warning light to cease displaying by turning the iginition on/off about 20 times or waiting longer
After spending £90.50 in vauxhall for stk manifold sensor, it didnt work. Tried your method . Mate your a legend kippa worked a treat. Cant thank you enough
