Question The Vectra C has become unreliable?

I was shocked today! And would love to know if it was any members from the forum..

Travelled back from seeing family up in Scarborough today... which took 7 hours as the traffic was an absolute joke, and on my journey across the M62 (missed the M18 turning ), down the M1 and around the M25 to the M3 I passed 4.... yes 4 Vectras on the hard shoulder!

I hasten to add that there were no Siggys but although there were quite a few cars parked up on the side of the motorway, there certainly wasn't 4 of any other model...

So whats going on? Has the Vectra C become a ticking time bomb of unreliability? Or do we Vec C owners prefer to take a leisurely stroll to our destination?

The signum has the same engines so I can't see vauxhall making the engines more reliable just because its a signum and not a vectra

I'd put it down to the fact that more and more people still have the idea you can have the car serviced once a year, put fuel in it, point and go... and all will be fine.
Well modern vehicles may well be considerably more reliable than in years gone by, but as we all know, you still need to check your fluid levels, temperatures, pressures, etc in any vehicle, especially before a long trip.

As far as it being Vectras... well quite possibly you just tend to notice Vectras more given your interest in the model.

theirs a lot more vectras than siggys so it will be a rare site to see one broken down on another note theirs alot of used vectras that have been to the moon and back a few times as taxis and now have been sold on so odds on these will be the ones on the hard shoulder

vectra has become a rare sight around here. only see a handful every week. millions of insignias now.
haven't seen a signum for months.
regardless, vec and sig are the same mechanically so nothing untoward there.

Possibly a commercial company moving vehicles and the one of them had suffered an issue

Equally, I remember when I first bought my Vectra B and was on a trip southbound on the M6
This was fitted with the early version of TrafficMaster
I received a warning, "Slow traffic ahead, expect 30 minutes delay"
A few miles later this then changed, "Severe delay, avoid"
Knowing the M6 and diversionery routes quite well I came off at the next exit
At the bottom of the offramp were eight other Vectra B and a Peugeot 406, looks like we all received the same message and decided to bail!
