Rear Knocking

Got a knocking from the rear, just going over bumps, had it on ramp, look at rear anti roll bar bushes, and they seem fine, the roll bar seems solid when having a tug in the middle but if i touch either end i get the knocking, is that still going to be the mounts? or is it possible drop links?

its a 2005 vectra cdti 1.9

and can anyone recommend me some new bushes if it is indeed that, or drop links if its that, ive looked at ebay at the bog standard ones, i know they are up to job but just wondering if anyone had links to others or anything like that

Most likely suspects are the rear upper control arms, very common on all the Vecs and Signums. You'll see them referred to on here as "banana arms" sometimes too because of their shape.

I had this and as my car was under warranty took it back to the steelers and they fitted a drivers side control arm, this did not cure the knocking so took it back again and they fitted new Bilstein gas rear shocks and all sorted

are they easily changeable? are they connected to the rear arb?

its defiantly not the shocks, i had it up on the ramps at work and looked, and the noise from driving can tell its not. just googled the banana arms, are they attached to the drop links or rear arb at all? not many clear pics on google

leave the car on the floor then hold the top of the tyre and pull and push to check for movement

help just replaced rear left and right control arms and still a knocking noise on rear right cannot find any ideas

Hi all,

I'm looking in to some rear knocking on my '53 Vectra. Assuming it is the banana arms, is there anything else that ought to be changed whilst the suspension is in bits? like anti roll bar bushes? i'm at about 70K miles

change the bushes and it will b as quiet as a mouse, ive done mine today, 1 thing i found was if u havent got the wheels in just the right place the anti roll bar will feel thight on the bushes but jack up 1 wheel a little bit and there is so much play u will wonder why it hasnt dropped off
