yep, just run a wire from the one to the other under the trim, done mine 4 years ago like that, and been fine, no issues what so ever,

dont quote me, but im 99% sure it was a blue/black wire,

If you have some aftermarket speakers wires somewhere or can get hold of the speaker cable. They use the correct size spade connector on the negative terminal. They will then just plug in to the terminal box in the light cluster and run the cable under the trim and your sorted.

It's not Vauxhall being lazy - most cars have only one rear foglight for a good reason. It you have two bright red lights, as a following vehicle you might not be able to tell if the car in front is braking. But with just one foglight, the change in brightness of the tail light on the other side will be more obvious.

It's also on the driver's side because it means that the following car can see where the edge of the car that's nearest the centre of the road is - hence giving extra help in assessing where oncoming traffic might be.

In general the cars with two rear foglights are Japanese or American in design, where rear foglights aren't required so they are adapted for the European market, and don't always follow this subtlety.

You can legally have two, but the lighting regulations encourage you to have just the one for the reasons above.

The regulations say you must have minimum 1 and not more than 2.

The other bits you say.. is regulated with that there have to be minimum 4 inches between the breaklights and the fogligts..

Also, I can't recall the last time I needed to use my rear fogs.

If there is anyone behind me, then out of courtesy I turn mine off. No point in dazzling the person behind you if he can clearly see your normal tail lights. To judge this I look at any cars in front of me to see if I can clearly see theirs. Also, if visibility is more than 100 metres then you shouldn't have them on in the first place.

IMHO, one rear fog light is plenty. Who cares if it doesn't make the rear of the car symmetrical when it's switched on. It's there for safety reasons, NOT a fashion accessory.

I agree - if I can see another car's headlights clearly behind me, then I turn off my rear foglight. I only really use it out on country roads where there's very little traffic. And I think I've used front foglights maybe four times in 20 years of driving. Times when the visibility is under 100m and there isn't another car visible are very rare in the UK.

I only use mine as per legality and common sense, if visibility is seriously compromised, but I'm not convinced that one is safer, two show it's a car and roughly where, otherwise we'd all only have one headlight, on the offside.
I wired mine up, as I have on every car I've had, there's a How To on it. If you don't want two, don't do it. Neither view is wrong.
