    Default Remote Start

    Hi Guys,

I am looking at getting a remote start kit for my Vec, has anyone else fitted one?

How easy is it to do or best to have professionally fitted?

    Carl

Was looking intomthis myself mate and I was told you would need a complete aftermarket alarm for it all to work together.

Clifford have a g5 inteliatart system. Which can detect battery voltage drop, temp drop etc and start car on it's own accord.

But I believe need to be installed and certified by a professional for insurance purposes

Will keep an eye on this thread incase someone comes something that can benused withnthe standard alarm

They're not as popular as they once were because insurance companies don't like them. Also in the UK (and most of the EU) don't forget it's illegal to have the engine running on an unattended vehicle that's on a public road. Partly for pollution reasons, and partly because if the vehicle was left in gear (or drops into gear), it could kill someone.

Seeing as the handbrake on its own isn't a reliable method of stopping your tin box from rolling away, how are you gonna remote start your car if it's left in gear when parked up? (as recommended by Vauxhall, the handbook, and the Highway code)

Unless of course you've got an autobox?
