    Default is this possible?

I know on the diesels you can blank off the egr valve however is it possible to blank off the 1.8 petrol engine? without any running issues. the reason is that i have replaced the egr and now there are small pieces of stuff getting into to the valve and it sticks open and runs like a pig until it is removed and the bits cleaned out, any helpers please.

so all it is, is a template cut from a coke can and that is it? does it affect the eml function or does it fool the eml to thinking that all is as it should be?

blanked mine off (1.8) using a blanking plate I bought ages ago for an audi tdi egr. Just leave the EGR valve connected electrically and tie wrapped out the way allowing room the plunger to still move (unless its siezed like mine)

yeah they do, although I've not tried it I've heard if you unplug the EGR valve it'll throw the EML light up and run in 'open loop' mode. The ones with factory blanked valves probably have an ECU software update to run without them
