    Default Stripped thread(EGR Valve)

I managed to strip the thread wheil replacing my EGR valve. Its the thread inside the head not on the actual bolt. Its the small 10mm bolt thats infront of the coolant bottle and not the stud bolt that holds the engine over rubber thiny.

Going by the head thread that was on the bolt, its stripped from about 3mm from the end of the bolt.I really need to get something sorted as i want to get a new EGR valve a.s.a.p but dont want to have it fitted with 1 bolt not tight and the risk of the gasket leaking.

How deep does the thread go inside the head as im really hoping i can just get hold of a longer bolt?

I did this on mine so I brought some slightly longer bolts and some thread and separate nuts. There is a small amount of thread left not used inside.

This fixed it no problem. Got the bolts off ebay. I think they were 5mm longer than the standard ones. But cannot remember the diameter.

You can get a longer 10mm bolt with 2 nuts from any local engineering factors shop/store.Save's helicoiling which can turn out to be expensive if your not careful,as they usually want to do all four bolts to make it cost effective.FELIXX.
