    Default argh cruise control.

Getting really annoying now press it to come on works fine, cruising down the motorway at 70, bang loss power @#$#%# cruise control turns of, so ok press button again to speed up and it turns of and on instantly won't stay on keep pressing it and it just wont stay on i have tried putting my feet under the clutch and brake and holding them up still keeps going off. So i tried keeping the acceletater on and press cruise at the same time without lifting off and the light on dash keeps going off. its not staying on, car has done 53k now any ideas.

New CIM module i would guess in the end of the stalk. Had mine replaced many years ago under warranty, and been fine ever since.

I changed clutch switch, brake switch, and no joy, i also managed to pull the spring connectors back up using a paper clip inside the CIM as after a length of time these become flat, worked for a while , i now have removed the stalk, wrap some celotape around it at the end just above the connections and pushed it back in been working fine since

I dohave a CIM there to put on but i have no one to tech2 it

So celotape will do fine for now lol

I had this on mine, remove indicator stalk, spray the end where it goes into the CIM with contact cleaner, then spray the other end around the buttons and hey presto....

    Of the stalk ?

No mate, its just got some take on it, to thicken it up, and then its jammed in, as i was finding it would work well when slightly pressed forward, and that told me the springs as become depressed, i have a few posts relating to this under my name , and how i pulled the spring connectors back up

^ what mcpitman said. I have same issue and it's the contact between the stalk and the CIM. Definitely worth trying before looking to replace CIM.

And yes CIMs are expensive and it needs to be coded via tech2. You can get them off fleabay but codes must match.

I'd put my money on cleaning the contacts.
