    Question Replacing Wing Mirror Unit

I'm about to replace my O/S Wing Mirror. The Haynes manual says the door card has to be removed before the tweeter unit. The How2 photos seem to suggest that the door card doesn't have to come off.

Does the door card need to come off ?

If it doesn't, is it easier to take it off ? Is it easy to take the door card off ?

I found that you had to take the door card off as one of the mounting bolts for the mirror is just below the top edge of the card and no matter how i tried i couldnt get in to it with the door card still on..... I found the door cards on the vectra one of the easiest to get off though!

no door card doesnt have to be removed, ive done a fair few of these

just remove the tweeter trim and then you can access the screws,it will be
tight and be carefull that you dont lose the screws down the door skin,
ya best using a magnetic bit so it doesnt fall down.

In terms of getting the door card off, I've seen the How2 on this site which looks pretty informative, but has anyone come across any other 'guides' which might help ?

In terms of actually removing the tweeter trim and mirror and replacing, are there any good "guides" around ? Also, any "guides" to removing and replacing the covers especially the small cover ?

The tweeter trim comes off very easily, simply pull away it away from the door starting at the top.... nothing more to it......

    Question Swapping Mirror Base Cover

I also need to swap the painted covers from the damaged mirror onto the new mirror. The main cover seems relatively straightforward to swap, but the small, base cover seems to be difficult to remove according to the few bits of info I can find. Anyone got any guidance/links for this ?

I'm not sure if this is following accepted protocol, but I think I'll start a new thread with this question.
